I was employed at a daycare for 3 years. I quit my job due to many different issues. When I quit most of the staff followed me. So far a total of 6 or 7 out of 10 people quit in 1 weeks time. I was given along with 7 others people a letter from an attoney stating that they are concidering a civil suit against me because children have been pulled/withdrawn from the center. They are blaming me and my fellow co-workers for the loss of kids. They also insinuated theft in the letter but they didn't say of what and stated as of ow they had no proof. What shoud we do? We had started to fill out paper work for labor relations but after this "lawsuit" we were too scared that it might make it worse.

I don't know the facts but it sure seems like a bogus lawyer's letter, possibly written to intimidate you from seeking other action against the center, or to cover up a failing on its part.

What is it that you want? You may want to speak to an employment lawyer as a group.

If you and the others who quit didn't do anything wrong or unlawful than don't let a lawyer's letter scare you. Most definitely speak with an employment law attorney near you to get the best advice considering the state's laws, all the facts, etc. The letter sounds a bit hokey. You were all free to quit at any time, with or without a reason. The mass exodus would certainly have a negative money effect on that school, but that's there problem. I really don't see how you and the others could be at fault.
