What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? FL

My ex and I have a 12 y/o daughter and were never married. I am the custodial parent.

I found out recently that my ex has been bringing our child to visit with, and sometimes stay in the care of a family member who was convicted of and did time for child abuse (he threw his son out of a second story window years ago, causing severe injuries to the head and spine). Granted, this happened back in the 80's - and I understand that people change, but I am extremely uncomfortable allowing my child to be left alone with this person.

This past week, he took her to the aforementioned person and left her there for a few days. I know and agree that what Dad does on his time with the child is his business (within reason) but with this person having the criminal record for child abuse that they do, I feel as though our child is or may be in danger.

Beyond the obligatory "Can you please not take our child around these people" is there anything that can be done to prevent it from occurring again?

Do you know for a fact whether or not this person is ordered to stay away from children?

I found out that because the event/conviction was so long ago, there is nothing that states that he can not come in contact with children. However, Ex has agreed to discontinue use of this person as a babysitter due to my concerns. Apparently her being left alone with this man (and his wife) was something that only occurred once. The other visits were supervised by Dad.

Thanks anyway. :)

That is good.
