help! i live in MS, my mom and dad were married 36 years before a legal divorce in the state of MS. she was granted $500.00 a month in ailimony according to the divorce decree. when she began receiving social security $528.00/month he stopped paying and still refuses to pay. the social security is her only income, she has not remarried and is 65 years old. she hired a lawyer 3 years ago this spring who has still not placed the case on the docket. he has repeatedly said he was but has not followed through. can i as her daughter with no legal background have this brought before a judge? it seems cut and dry, he was mandated by the court to pay and he is in contempt because he refuses to pay. is the lawyer acting ethically? he is a nice man but enough is enough. mom gets older and is extremely limited and is not able to hold down a job at this time. please help me, i need answers. thanks.
