Hello! Sorry I am new to this board and the post did not go through.

My ex wife was awarded a property during the divorce. This was seven years ago, she then asked me to sign a Quit Claim and I did so thinking it would not only take me off the deed but also the mortgage. When I tried to purchase a home with my new wife I found out I was never off the previous loan and that she had made late payments on that loan. Fast forward five years later and now she is refinancing the loan and her escrow company is asking me to sign two papers one that is the confidential information statement, which I would fill out with all my personal information and another one is a letter giving them authorization to "obtain any information, including but not limited a payoff demand, with the Department of Child Support Services". I really want to be off that loan but is my personal information required for this and this letter as well? What document can I ask for as proof that I am no longer on any loan?( pay off or deed or reconveyance)

Help!!!

I am going to infer by that that the closing company is required to make sure that you do not have any child support liens against you before they disperse any money from the "sale" of the home. I realize that this is a re-fi, but the same principles/rules have to be used.

So yes, I am guessing that your personal information and the letter is required.

If you want off the loan it may be practical to cooperate with proposed lender .....btw merely seeking to refi is not an assurance it goes thru ....btw did the order require her to refinance it ?
