What is the name of your state? Georgia My mom who lives in Florida is 88. My oldest sister is excecutrix of her estate and has power of attorney. We(my 2 other sisters) and I believe my oldest sis is neglecting my mom. Her condo is full of roaches and mold growing on the walls. She does nothing for my mom. She recently bought a car out of my mom's money. Mom just got out of hospital from having pneumonia and rapid heartbeat. Sister is not serving her meals or taking care of her. She does not clean or help mom in any way. We belive she is mentally insane.What should we do? We want to get mom away from there, want to get her to sell her condo and put her in assisted living housing nearer to me or other sis in NJ. She will not have any part of it. She defends my sister and is afraid of losing her relationship with her if she asks her for help. My sister yells and screams at my mother and us when we call. She sometimes will not let us speak to my mom.She does not live with her, but lives a couple blocks away in her own condo. She does not work, nor does her 46 yr old daughter, my niece. She is incompatant to care for my mom and is totally irrational. My mom is hard of hearing and very sweet and fragile, She sounds depressed often, which is not like her. Please,please, help us.

What did the adult protective services say when you went into their offices in the county where your mom is and showed them all the evidence of this stuff?

One of you needs to move in with Mom for an extended visit. Then persuade her to come home with you for an extended visit. Your Mom is dependent on the other sister and someone else is going to have to show interest.

Have your sister call Adult Protective Services on Tuesday. They are listed under Department of Children and Families. The investigator needs to see mom's living conditions and how the house is unkept.
