Hi,

One of my friend has come to USA in B1 visa, for a project related training and discussion. After coming here, he applied for the extension of B1 status for two months. With the B1 extension petition/form he submitted his original I-94 card (Arrival/Departure record) to the INS and he has got a receipt letter from INS for the filed B1 extension pettion.

Now, one and half month is over after applying the petition, and he planned to leave the country before the applied extension date, But he didn't get any final status inormation from the INS till now.
But at the port of exit, the I-94 card will be asked. So what he needs to do for the I-94 card?
Is it sufficient to show the Receipt letter received from the INS, and copy of the submitted I-94 card? at the port exit Or what else need to be done?

Suggestion over the above mentioned querry would be highly appriciated.

Thanks in advance,
Rams.

Just write to the INS that he is leaving and then notify whomever when he leaves. His passport will be scanned so they will know he left the US.
