My boyfriend was divorced 1 & 1/2 years ago and he was told by the judge that he had to pay one of her cc debts, the cc company kept telling him that he is not responsible for it and would not give him any info when he talked to them and they won't send the bill to him so he can't pay it cause he has no bill to pay it and now he was just served papers from a attorney that his ex hired for contept/judgment, what can he do. We live in Washington State.

Boyfriend should have send ex a certified letter requesting a payoff amount then sent ex a cashiers check via same method for the amount due made payable directly to the credit card company re: name of ex.

What was so hard about that.
He can fuss all he wants to by saying, I had no bill to pay, the cc company said I don't owe the money, they wouldn't talk to me .......

If it was ordered by the court and part of the divorce decree that he pay, he should have been proactive. more persistent and found a way to resolve the problem. His excuses of not paying are laughable.
