I am a contractor in a government agency, I came here over 9 years ago on a 90 day contract and have been renewed ever since. There are certain FTE (full time employees) who hate contractors, in general, and don't even hide how they feel. I thought I got along pretty well with everyone, and in fact, after 9+ years I envision myself more as an employee than a contractor - until last week. From what I have been told after the fact, three FTE's conspired to wait until my supervisor and my official contact with Contracts was out of town, to file a charge with the COTR (Contracting Officer's Tech Rep) for something that HAD BEEN SETTLED two weeks before, in my favor, within our group! I was "called on the carpet" and could have been fired on the spot had I not talked my way out of it and totally satisfied ( I think) the COTR that these charges were false. This was not a pleasant meeting for me. I could feel my face redden, and soon afterwards, went to the nurse where it is documented that my blood pressure had risen 30 points above my norm to 145/95. My supervisor, upon returning, was very upset and backed me up big time....but feels helpless to take any action against these employees, whom he views as useless, because it is almost impossible to fire a government worker. Do I have any legal recourse here? I have NEVER sued anyone in my life, but I find it a very uncomfortable work environment to be in, notwithstanding that I was exonerated, I am "on notice" not to have any more complaints against me, I am nearing retirement age and would probably find it close to impossible to get any comparable work.
Thanks.

These employees have the right to avail themselves of filing complaints with the agency, no matter how bogus they are. Yes, it does seem like they bided their time to cause you the maximum amount of difficulty but it's not against the law to be a devious backstabber.

As unpleasant as this situation was, I don't see any that you have any legal recourse. These three did indeed complain about some legitimate matter, even if it had already been resolved, and other than being understandably upset, you did not suffer any damages.
