undefinedWhat is the name of your state? CA
My son (age 23)had a DWI over a year ago.He moved out of state and did not pay the 1,600.00 fine, nor did he go to the Alcohol School. He wants to come back and turn himself in to the courts, go to jail, and have the whole matter taken care of that way. Is that smart? Is it possible?

Yes, it's smart. He can take car of it when it's convenient for him, or he can wait and get arrested on the warrant... when it's not so convenient. His choice.

And yes, it's very possible.

I think it's a very mature decision ... better than waiting for the inevitable or living on the run.

If he gets an attorney ahead of time, he can possibly work it out where another court date is made in lieu of his surrender into custody. Ultimately, the county isn't going to want to house someone who is going to take care of the matter.
