I work in the office of a public school. We were Teamsters and have recently switched to OEA. I've never belonged; I've always paid fair share. Non union members were sent a packet saying we can opt out of some of the fair share if we send the proper letter by Feb 14. Of course most of the info in the packet is very hard to understand. We also hear that there are other organizations to send our fair share money to other than the union. Everything is vague; no advice is available; and the fair share amount is very large because they are catching up on lost dues from the transition time from Teamsters to OEA. I've got lots of questions but the main one is does anyone have advice on this letter we have to send and be received by 2/14? If I understand correctly, this letter can lower the money taken from my pay and my pay is very low and my income is primary in my household. Thanks!

It is hard to give advice without seeing the letter. What does it say about opting out?
