What is the name of your state? MD

Ok, we seem to be to a point where there is not going to be any further appeals filed. Yippeeeeee:D.

Now, yesterday was the first day I was to pick up Little Miss Pro Se since school started. I thought it would be a good idea to see what info the after-school program and the school have. Both places have the correct contact info for both …her:rolleyes:… and for me. Her teacher was busy and I didn’t get to meet her yet(Back to school night is 9/11, so I will meet her then). I also got all of the contact info for the teacher.

However, the school also has, as the next listed contacts, a grandmother and an aunt. The people who are listed are in actuality the family of …her:rolleyes:ex-husband, and are in fact the grandmother and aunt of LMPS’s sister. I have never met them, nor have I been informed by …her:rolleyes:… that they would be listed. I am not sure how comfortable I am having false information in my daughter’s school registration form, particularly since, from my understanding, LMPS only met both of them within the last year.

Can, or maybe should, I do anything to correct this?

Well, last year, when faced with a similar situation, I simply provided information to the school of who the contacts should be on MY time and left the ones dad had chosen as the ones on HIS time. The school has a calendar of where the kids are each day, so it's not that difficult for them to do that. Might be something you could try.

Or, just change the info. But really, the emergency contacts are supposed to be people who can get in touch with the parents when the school can't - and they should be near the school, able to get there on short notice, and responsible enough to care for the child in the interim. While ideally it would also be someone the child is very familiar with, that's not always the case.

Are you just upset because you are not listed as a contact? Are you listed as the father on the school registration forms? I would think that, if they can't reach mom, they would then try to reach you and, if that fails, THEN they go to the contacts list.....which, as already pointed out....are simply names of people who may be more readily available to respond to a call from the school when the parents can't be reached.

Thanks for the replies.

I got the impression when I spoke with the school principal yesterday that they do not want to have 2 lists, as it could be confusing in an emergency situation. I understand this.

I am listed as a contact, right after …her:rolleyes:

I guess that I am thinking that by listing them as grandmother and aunt, there is an inference of rights that just aren’t there.

but grandmothers and aunts aren't generally recognized as having any more "rights" than if your ex had instead simply listed her best friend or the child's sunday school teacher as an emergency contact.

If the school nurse has your child in the clinic because she's unwell, and they are unable to immediately reach either the child's mother or father, I guess the bottom line is do you object to either of these women being able to pick your child up from school and caring for her until either you or her mother can be reached? The school just wants SOMEBODY to pick the child up ASAP when she is ill.

I dunno:confused:. I know absolutely nothing about them except that the grandmother has custody of ...her:rolleyes:... ex-husbands first child.

Edited to add: I want to be able to trust ...her:rolleyes:... judgement on this, but it's hard after everything else that has happened.

I understand.....she's put you through alot. All the more reason to monitor yourself and be sure that you are not subconsciously looking for trouble that does not always exist.

I list (after Me & Dad) my NEIGHBOR on the Emergency contact...she's closest to the school if ever *I* can't get there. Dad is in another County- I list him just because I want him called. ;)

As long as you are listed to be contacted before the *others* I would not worry abot it too much...it dosen't seem like a hill worth dying on.

Are you upset because they're listed or because they're listed as 'aunt' and 'grandmother'?

I don't know if I'd use the word "upset", but it's the grandmother and aunt thing that gets me.

This isn't something that I would do anything about other than talk about it to ...her:rolleyes:...

I agree that it's not a hill worth dying on. I'm sure a good hill will arise in time:rolleyes:
