Hello,

I worked for a Canadian company which hired an immigration lawyer to help me with immigrating to Canada. I left this company January this year.

A few days ago I received an outstanding invoice from this lawyer dating February this year for his immigration consulting services.
Few points:
- I don't remember personally signing any contract or agreement with the lawyer.
- I was told by the HR officer the company will pay all fees.
- The CEO told me on several occasions that the fee was already paid in advanced (not sure if that's true or not).
- Since I left the company, I was in touch with this lawyer and continued the process. I believed the fee was already paid and that I can continue the process with him with no additional fee. When he asked to sign a "Use of a representative" form and a "standard firm retainer letter for review and signature" a few months later, I told him I'm not interested.

My questions:
- Should I pay this invoice? If not what should I do ?
- If I'm not paying it, will it harm my credit ranking or my chances to immigrate ?

Thank you
