I live in Ga, I hope that I am posting this in the right place! In order for you to understand my situation i must explain this situation to you.
My Father left when I was 3 years old, I am 42 years old and have been searching for him for years, I found him....dead I found out that he died in SC in 2000, I spoke with a Detective on the case and he said that my father commited Suicide, my mother who knew this man well, said that he would never do such a thing, My father was Left handed , The detective on the case said that the person that tied the Knot was Right handed......I want as much info on this case as possible, but everyone is telling me that i have to have a Court order to receive the info? Why is this I am his daughter? If I do have to do this, how can i go about doing this? I wanted the papers from the Coroners office and that is when they sent me a letter stating that in order for me to view the documents, pictures, etc i would have to have a court order, I do not understand all of this I just want to be sure that this is my father and if so Justice be served! please help in this situation!

My response:

No one said you don't have "rights".

The State, or the County, doesn't know you from the "man in the moon." All you have to do is follow your State's procedures to obtain an Order that requires the coroner to open the files. Until that happens, you'll get nothing.

So, if this means that much to you, grab an attorney by the lapels, and get the ball rolling.
