I lived in Oregon, US Citizen, went on disability about 15 years ago and moved to rural Philippines 13 years ago. Have never had a problem receiving my benefits which are direct-deposit to my Oregon bank.
Feb payment was not made so I emailed the local ss office in Manila at US Embassy. Was told I didn't return a routine annual questionnaire re: contact info changes. I hadn't received it and the only warning of suspension was on the form I also didn't receive a possible follow-up letter. If I ever see money again I'll rent a PO box in town so I'm no longer subject to the rural delivery of mail non-system that exists here. My 90 year old parents have been supporting me this month since my benefits were not received.
As soon as I heard back from Manila I got their questionnaire to them as per their instructions in one hour and I've now waited three and a half weeks. I was told it would be there by the following week and that was three weeks ago. They are ignoring all subsequent communications. I have no money to make phone calls and it wouldn't help anyway to have verbal blah blah, I want to see something in writing from them. They said they "made a reinstatement input to my record" and have ignored my requests for further info since my benefits haven't shown up. I've left messages on myssa.gov logged into my acct, all ignored. I sent a question to the contact form on ssa.gov, ignored.
Is there something I can do to make them talk to me and tell me what's really going on? Feb benefits not received yet and in four days if my March benefits don't show up then it's over for me. Manila is hundreds of miles from here, my "local office" is impossible to visit.
Thank you.
