Can a spouse's credit boo boo's be held against me in a security check? I've worked
at the Bureau of Prisons for about 11 years. After going through the every five-year security check, I am being penalized for three accounts that aren't mine. However, my spouse took care of the accounts legally by making payments or settling the accounts. They just look ugly on the credit report. Two of the creditors won't remove the "balance due" and one that is being paid on won't provide payment information. Information on these accounts is being solicited by the Bureau. I'm going to end up on the "beach" (suspended) for about two weeks without pay. Can they do this?

You have the right to require the credit companies to put your explanation on file and send it out.

You also should explain it to your boss. But I don't know federal employment practices. Sorry.
