What is the name of your state?WA
This is probably a stupid question but not if i don't ask. My wife and i will be filing a Married/Joint return. I have completed one 1040 (draft) and also with a friend's turbotax. Both show same figures and from both sources it appears that we will be getting a refund. i am fairly (99%) sure on the calculations but I would like to go over them again with someone who is more knowledgeable. Question is should file for an extension and show, expect to owe 0 or just not worry about it until i can get with someone after the 15th. there is no penalty for not filing on time for refund unless i go beyond the 3 years. correct? TIA

No, you do not need to file an extension.

There is never a penalty for late filing if you are owed a refund, but after three years they won't give you the refund anymore.
