I'm in California where I worked for a big moving and storage company main headquarters out of Florida. I was issued a check 24 hours after being terminated. I didn't try to cash the check until 30 days later and when I did it had been declined and red flagged as fraudulent by TeleCheck and Certegy. Should my employer pay me Thirty Days penalty? Does the fact that I didn't try to cash it right away matter? I was basically issued a piece of paper that was worthless.

YOu waited too long ( 30 days ) for the CA labor board to help you under the failure to pay wages view ...it is NOT too late to pursue it as a "bad check" and besides that route opens up triple damages upmto $1500 ...consider CA Civil Code 1719 and follow the steps to a T .
