In case anyone is interested, brother had court this morning....Niece's bm's parental rights are terminated! No more worries from her! DFCS has closed the case on my niece and they are gone now too!

Free at last, free at last!!!!

HomeGuru: I shall join you! LOL!

Veronica: No, just bm's rights have been terminated.

Long story made short: My brother's child, Unaware of her existence till early this year, was in custody of DFCS, who wanted my brother to give up rights so they could adopt her out. Brother said no, we fought DFCS in court for custody, won, but had to wait 6 months for tpr of biomom, and 6 months for DFCS to close the case so they could not intrude in our lives anymore.

Mom's an active drug addict, has five other children, who she has also lost rights to, and had the kids living in an abandoned car.

If you want, I can post links to past posts on the issue, to give you a more detailed history!

Do the siblings get to stay in contact? I knew there were others, but didn't realize there were 6 children all together!

Now I remember...this is terrific news!

I remember your name of course, but cannot remember everyone's story. This is the best news I've heard all day. Well, other than the news that IAAL gets to break 3 commandments with any woman who likes his advice (just kidding, see BLCM's post "to new posters").

EXCELLENT!!!! How are dad and daughter doing? How's he feeling, to be a dad? I'm so excited that someone's really sad situation finally turned out happy!

Yes, six, and get this...My brother told me that in court this morning, the case worker let it slip that it looks like she might be pregnant again already! Grief! (BM wasn't there of course, case worker told the judge they did not know her whereabouts at this time) Six kids by six different dads. And all of them seperated due to all the families wanting "their" children, but no one being able to afford to take them all.

And yes, after all the seperate family members got custody last year, we all managed to work out some reasonable visitation for the kids among ourselves. No overnights, at least not right now, but the custodial family members have been meeting in a town that is approximately half way for everyone, at a park, for the kids to be together for at least a few hours twice a month.

All the kids seem alot happier and more secure nowdays.

edited to add: I should clarify, two of the children did stay together. They are with a paternal aunt. The childrens fathers are both the brothers of this lady. The kids are half sibs, as well as cousins.

ITs not first time dad for him. He's got two other kids, plus two step kids that live with him also. I think he and my niece are really doing well together. She is certainly doing better than before! THanks for asking!

Janey that is incredible! Promise me you will always keep track of the other siblings, this is so important for your neice.

I think this woman should be required to have her tubes tied or her legs, one or the other.

Thats the plan, to keep them all in touch. I don't know how possible that will be with any future sibs they might have, because DFCS won't be informing us of anymore there might be. The slip that happened this morning was just that, a slip. The only reason we all knew where these kids were and what was going on with them was because the removal involved 4 of them at once, and the baby during the custody battle. (I knew where the oldest one was, who had aready been taken from her, because he and his father live here in my town. DFCS didn't even know about that till WE told them)

The caseworker said this morning, after court, to my brother and a couple of the other custodians that the last time she talked to biomom, she stated she intends to "rebuild" her family since she's lost her first one. I don't know if that means she'll be having six more children or what, but all the while, she's still living out of a car, doing drugs and not working. The only reason that they know she's pregnant is that she went to a clinic to get tested and sign up for Medicaid or whatever they call it down there, there by informing them that another child will be in jeapordy in about 9 months. But they have problems keeping up with her as she has no permanent address.

I sure wish she'd have her tubes tied. She doesn't have children, she breeds.
