For everyone seeking information about what is what when it comes to doctors, nurses, hospitals, nurse practitioners, chiropractors, etc., here is a place to go and find the ethics, legal, and other information that is set for the medical community. Of course I am in Texas and this is the Texas Board of Medical Examiners site BUT when you go to it, look at the top and you will find "useful links". Go to it first. This is where you can find all the sites for the Examiners Board in each individual state, all National Organizations, and Medical Schools. Each site should have a section about rules and show you what they are for your state so when used with National or American Board rules, if you interpret what you read correctly we can end all the unneccessary confusion! Just a note about references for ethics, rules, etc. (and, I haven't been to this site, yet). Standards of practice, standards of care, usual and routine procedures, policies and procedures all play a role in determining whether or not care was rendered appropriately.
Also, and this is really important; only the ethics, rules, standards, etc. in the YEAR in which an event occurred are appropriate; ie. standards for two years ago may be higher or lower than for today's date. Be careful to apply the correct year's 'rules'.
