What is the name of your state? Texas but the misdemeanor is from when I lived in California.

So I live in Texas and I have been pounding the pavement looking for jobs but have received nothing but rescinded offers and one job I was let go after working there 2 days because of the misdemeanor on my record for petty theft(stupid I know but darker times) that I told them about before signing the hiring paperwork. After working 2 days I get a phone call after work from HR telling me they are letting me go due to the misdemeanor I was a bit confused as I disclosed this information and on the job application it just asked if I had ever been convicted of a felony which I had never been. I have gotten hired at so many different places but received rescinded emails and letters due to this unfortunately mistake from almost 3 years agO. At this point I have no idea what to do. I’ve filled out the application for the fresh start program but I don’t really know what’s going on with it.Everytime I call the receptionist just says you can’t talk to her but you can leave a message and she will call you if she decides to and no I haven’t calle d nonstop. I’ve only called twice. I’ve flown to California and I can’t afford to keep flying there. I’m already about to be homelesS BECAUSE I can’t seem to find a job that will accept my background and I feel like I’m out of options. I’m just looking for some advice on what else I should be doing and please don’t suggest suicide as I’ve already come so close but feel I have more to live for.

Alas in your state, they are free to fire you for no reason whatsoever. I'm sorry, but all I can suggest is to try again and be honest during the application process. If you otherwise qualify, apply for unemployment while you're hunting.

What kind of jobs are you applying for? With a theft conviction I wouldn't go looking for jobs where you have to handle money. Don't apply for jobs like cashiers or bank tellers. Try for things like dishwashers or drivers.

Or janitors.

Hardin, no one here is going to suggest suicide, and that's a rather absurd thing to say.

I don't know what type of jobs you're looking for, but if you're submitting resumes that are of the same quality as your above post, then I can see why you're not getting call-backs. Because your writing skills are seriously lacking. With the current low unemployment rate, I have a feeling it's not your misdemeanor that's keeping you from being hired.

So I suggest you find a temporary or day-labor agency, and start there. Get some work experience and good references, and I have a feeling your criminal past won't be an issue.
