Hi,
I'm a uk criminal/immigration lawyer. You'd think I'd have no problem finding an employer with my qualifications, would you?
How many people do you know who need a uk criminal/immigration lawyer in Maine? I didn't think so. I hear you ask, why Maine? Well because that's where my partner, who doesn't want to marry me, lives with our 4 month old.
So, finding a potential employer in Maine in my field is virtually impossible. She is at school, doesn't want to come to the UK, thus my hands are tied. Can you imagine?
My only real option is to come to the States, give up my career, country, house and family (of origin). I've even been accepted by the NY Court of Appeals to take the NY bar. I can see no real point since living and working in NY is a six hour drive to Maine, doing 70!
It takes 61/2 hours by plane to Boston, MA. Where's the logic in that.
From a person who dishes out advice on a regular basis I find myself in a situation clients ask me to sort out.
Anyone got some sensible advice?
