so I live in Nova Scotia Canada and I got a fine ( 101 in the motor vehicle act, careful and prudent speed) for 6 points and 410 dollars and the automatic penalty for that is a 6 month suspension but I got 1 week suspension. A couple months later, the fine is paid off, I've done the one week suspension and I get some mail says my that my license is going to be suspended for six months. Can they do that? I've already been penalized for the fine and I've already done the suspension they gave me. I got the fine in march, it went to court may 5th, I got the suspension June 2-9th and I just got sent a notice for another suspension set for august 10th. Is that legal? Can they punish me twice for one offence?
