finishing apartment lease

What is the name of your state? Mississippi
I was having problems with my roommate. LL said I could break lease as
long as I gave 30 day notice and an extra months rent. Well issues between
roommate were resolved. I asked landlady if I could finish the rest of lease
and was told the apartment is preleased. I am just curious as to whether or
not I can keep the apartment. I'd hate to throw off another person contract.
I would like to know where I stand legally.
