I was hired with my County Assistance Office here in PA on February 19. They were made aware of my incurable immune disorder before being offered the job. My supervisor complained about everything and that kind morale weighed heavily on me and caused my disease to flare up and cause severe fatigue and severe pain. I tried using different devices to help me ergonomically. But it could only do so much. My rheumatologist felt it would be best if my work day was cut down to 4 hrs. Regular workday was 7.5 hrs. My work would not accommodate that work schedule and forced me to use my sick time and annual sick time. They didn’t offer shortened work days. They attempted to force me to resign but I refused. After a week using up my personal time, I had no time to use. They fired me for unauthorized absences. Was this legal and would I have a case to sue?

It could be a legal termination. An employer is only required to make accommodations it reasonably can without undue burden.

Seeing an attorney would be smart.
