first class IDS

I noticed on the bottom of the IDS (Information Disclosure Statement) Cover Letter, that it states, "I certify that this correspondence will be deposited with the United States Postal Service as first class mail with proper postage...."

Does this *have* to mailed first class? I ask because I have exactly 7 days to get mine in to meet the 3 month deadline, and I would feel more comfortable mailing Priority Mail which is supposed to arrive in 1-3 days.

Just leave that section blank, and send it via Express Mail. If you send the IDS by Express Mail, it is considered "filed" on the day it was dropped off at the Post Office -- get a receipt. § 1.10 Filing of correspondence by "Express Mail." - Patent Rules
