What is the name of your state? Mass

I am trying to obtain a copy of a police investigation. The Police Department had told me it does not fall under the FOIA/PIL because it involves a minor. I need the records to settle an arbitration case as well as a few other civil cases. I have already requested the court to order them to release the reports with names blacked out if need be. Any other suggestions on what I should do or how I should present my case? What is the name of your state?

You want us to tell you what is better than a court order?

According to the City in which my arbitration case is in I am a suspect. According to the police I am a person of intrest/witness. I need the documents to prove I was never a suspect.

However I am being told that the court will not grant it.
If the court will not grant you a copy of the case - even redacted - then you are out of luck.

But, unless the mysterious people telling you it will not be granted are attorneys familiar with the case, then you just might prevail.

You'll know when the judge makes a decision.

What makes you think the documents would say you are NOT a suspect?

I spoke with the detective that handled the case and he was the one who informed me that I wasnt a suspect. I was a missing persons investigation.

Well, if this is a court matter you can always subpoena the officer that took the report to answer questions about it. But if the judge does not allow you to obtain records of the matter, he may not permit the officer to testify to your status in the report either.

The officer has already been served with a subpoena in this matter.

Okay ... then when he gets to court, you can just ask him about your involvement.

The officer told you that you were not a "suspect." You could still be a "person of interest" there is a subtile difference.
