What is the name of your state? North Carolina

I got laid off of work, because the company I worked for went to Mexico. I'm drawing unemployment, and I'm going to the local commuity college to get an Associate's Degree in Accounting. The problem is, I have been making my house payment every month, but it has been a week late for the last several months. Is there any way they can foreclose on my home? I was under the impression that as long as I was trying, and making the payments, even if they are a week late, that the mortage company could not foreclose on me. I'm not making the payments late on perpose, that is just the way make unemployment checks are coming in.

Do you mean you are paying on the 7th instead of the 1st each month.

You are well within even falling thirty days behind. Troubles do not start until you are thirty days late. Then some of the lenders will not accept your previous months payment, without your current months payment. Foreclosure usually willnot start until 90 days late.

If it becomes necessary, call your lender if you get close to being thirty days late, and if they will not help you, then contact your state housing agency.

The main thing is to get in touch with these people before it is too late for help.

Good luck on your job search.
