foreclosure on a dead persons house

What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? CA


We inherited a home with a mortgage on it, and it may not be worth it to us to keep the home. My husband and his brother have been talking about just letting the bank take the house**************...

If they do that, and it's a foreclosure, then does it go on OUR credit, if we didn't ever transfer the home into our name?
