Wow, love the new forum jump. You don't even have to press "GO". Pick a board and voila--you're on your way!

My response:

Yeah, it's been there for about 3 days now. Didn't you know that ?

I guess Mary should have announced its arrival.

The forum jump is good but there are still things that need improvement.
There should be a way to control private messaging. I get private messages and do not want any from random posters only from contributors. Also, I can't update my user info since the system says incorrect password. When I use the "forgot your password" selection, my password never comes. It must go to some else's email address and not mine that is shown as the registered password in the forum database.
This is strange because if I did not have the correct password, I would not be able to post under my user name.
I sent an email to Mike last week and so far no response.
When is Mary coming back?

Have you ever noticed that the maximum length a post can be is 10,000 characters?
That's still a lot.

My response:

Good morning, Homie.

Please explain what's happening a little further when you say:

"There should be a way to control private messaging. I get private messages and do not want any from random posters . . ."

What do you mean by "private messaging" ? Is there something on these new boards that I missed or a function that I'm not aware of ? (Oooooh, I ended that sentence with a preposition - - shame, shame).

Good to see you today !

Chek out the bottom links of your post ie. profile, pm, buddy etc.
Click on pm and you will see all the options. Then go all the way to the right and click private messaging. Then check it out. The only way I found out about it was I clicked freeadvice forums to see the user count them looked at the bottom and it had HomeGuru 3 unread messages etc.
I then had to navigate all over to find out how to check these messages.
The buddy list did not work either.
There should be a tutorial link so that everyone can review all the functions of this forum. I bet I am still not using half the stuff available.

My response:

Thank you ! I just checked out the PM (Private Messaging) under my User Name, and have found a crapload of "messages" - - mostly posts with questions that could have been posted on the boards. I don't think I like this function. I would much prefer that all posts be made "public" on the regular boards (both good and bad) so that everyone can see them. Therefore, I won't be responding to what I have seen, nor will I be clicking on PM in the future.

As one example of a PM I received, the writer is asking about the law concerning foreign matter in food stuffs. Now, why that one had to be a "Private Message" I'll never know. We have a Board for questions like that.

And, besides, you already know how to contact me by e-mail, and it's you and the other of the 3 Musketeers from whom I'm only interested in receiving private e-mail.

Thanks again, old buddy.

If you also check your profile (which as HG said, you seem not to be able to edit any longer), there are also links in there where "folks" can send you e-mails or private messages.

I just checked out the PM. While you're in the user control pad (where you find your PMs), there is a link to edit your profile.

Ok, IAAL, that's what I was talking about. PM is BM.
Things are still messed up and I can't change my profile.
I have not heard from Mike or anyone at the main station.

I had the same problem with it saying I wasn't logged on when I tried to edit by clicking on Profile. Try again by clicking on PM (in your own post). Above the message form there are several links. I think the Edit Your Profile is the second one. Worked for me!:D

Hey Homie, did'nt you lose your password the last time they upgraded.. you had to use a different user and would have past the 10,000 post mark before IAAL had you not had those problems..

Thanks for remembering LB.
Faded photographs, covered now with lines and creases,
tickets torn in half, memories in bits and pieces....
Traces of passwords......

That is exactly what happened. I could not post under my registered name so had to register under another name to post again. Unfortunately both users share the same password so I had to do some of my own programming to get the thing to work.
I am still beta testing it now as we write.

Lastly, even when things got screwed up IAAL was still ahead of me by 7,382 posts. You go IAAL!
