What is the name of your state? illinois

according to rule 30(e) the deponent is entitled to read or review the deposition before it is completed and forwarded to the attorney----can someone shed some insight how does this work, do the deponent sit and review the deposition at their place of business; and what can the deponent use to compare the transcript with.

confused, need resources for procedures

At the beginning of the deposition the court reporter usually asks if the witness is willing to waive his right to review the transcript. If he does not waive his right, when the transcript is ready, the witness will receive a copy along with the “errata sheet”.

The witness will be given a few weeks or a month (depends on your local rules) to review the transcript and write any corrections on the ES. He will then sign the ES and return it with the transcript to the attorney or court reporter who sent it to him for review.
