I have a friend who is living with his grandparents in FL. They are frequently emotionally abusive and occasionally physically abusive. He wants to get out, but doesn't want to call CPS. He even threatened it to them once, and they told him to go ahead and that he would be placed in foster care. He doesn't want to be with a foster family but wants to get out of the situation.

He's thinking about leaving and going to CA to live with a friend of his that already lives there, but this friend is in his late 20s and my friend is 14. He asked me to find out if him or his friend can get in trouble at all?

He wants to do it the legal way so he can continue to go to school and all, but his grandparents won't allow him to be emancipated.

Thanks

He remains at home where children belong. Friends, true friends, do not encourage children to 'run away' from home. If the 14 year-old wants to ruin his life and get started on a life of crime, let him run away and spend some time in juvenile hall or maybe boot camp.

Teenagers are supposed to want to leave home and are supposed to want to gain their independence. They need to do this in the safety of their homes.

You kids today think emotional abuse and physical abuse is some excuse to get away with anything. Being yelled at and having your backside blistered is not abuse. Even God said, 'spare the rod and spoil the child'. We have too many spoiled children already.

Tell your friend to be glad he has a roof over his head, food to eat, a bed in which to sleep, and parents who love him.

Tell the 20 year-old, he or she could face serving time in prison if he or she helps this child cross state lines in an effort to run away.

Funny, I could've sworn this was legal related advice on this web site, not sermons 'r us. Try peddling your God elsewhere and actually give me some sound advice to give to my friend.
