Texas. I have a friend, her son got married after 2 months of knowing this girl. Well, they had a baby, and now they are not getting along. The girl goes out a lot, leaves the baby at home with the father. She goes out and stays out for long parts of the day, she doesn't really take care of the child too well, only feeds it bottle even though doctor says it's time for the baby to start eating solid food. She doesn't allow her husband to go out at all. For example, he wanted to go to a friends birthday party, she had a fit, said he was going to go drinking, he said he wouldn't, he doesn't drink, or drinks very little, and he said he would be back in a couple of hours. She kept throwing tantrum and threatens to leave with the baby. Every time they get into arguments she threatens this. My friend, the grandmother, is worried bcuz if the girl takes the baby, her home environment with her parents is not good at all. Lots of parties, not very good environment in general, her mother and new stepfather are only interested in partying and what not. So, ultimately, I was wondering if the father of the baby has any rights to child if she just gets up and leaves with the child. Will he have to get a lawyer, or can he fill out some kind of paperwork with police or court saying she won't let him see child. Just don't really know what his options are here.

His options are to ask his own questions.

really

he should ask his own questions. I'm here to help a friend, the son doesn't have a lot of experience, really would help to give him some advice.

It really would be best for him to come here himself. He knows the details of is situation better than you or his Mom do. It would be more productive to be able to deal directly with him. Thanks for understanding!
