frustratedstep: Some Things You Do Not Want To Understand

In his divorce decree, my husband is supposed to get "credit" for time he has my step-daughter. For example, in December, if my step-daughter is with him all of Christmas break, he only pays 1/2 support. In the summer, when he gets at least one full month, he isn't supposed to pay support for that month (granted, his ex never let my step-daughter stay a full month at a time, claiming that she is too overwhelmed at home without her). My step-daughter has lived with us for 3 full weeks of this month...meaning, he should have only been required to pay about 1/4 of the support, but since the decision was made BY HIS EX after full support was paid that my step-daughter needed to live with us, she already got basically 3 weeks of free money, and she wants a whole other month! {stuff} And to address whether or not dad can dictate what the child support is spent on...I think the courts in this county would agree that if the child's needs were not being met by the custodial parent receiving the support, that the non-custodial parent has every right to question this! WE (and yes, WE, as I often took my step-daughter to the store to get her things such as shampoo and sanitary pads for her mom's house) were way too often buying things for my step-daughter that the support should have been covering...things that were necessity...sneakers for PE class (because the school would not let them wear flip-flops), socks, underwear, school supplies, deodorant and other hygiene products for use at the custodial parent's house, etc. Even if it was something as minor as a allergies or something, we had to buy the OTC meds and take them to my step-daughter at her mom's house...many times this was just a mere day or two after support was paid! My step-daughter has medical insurance from my policy at work (as my policy is much more comprehensive than my husbands...even my husband is on my policy). My step-daughter's NEEDs were being totally ignored before the change, so you are darn tootin' that my husband has the right to ask what the money was being used for! {stuff} Go ahead...think what you want! I have read other posts around here, and have come to the conclusion you all treat step-moms with the same disdain! You can't seem to understand that a marriage IS a partnership...and when ex's do things, those things can, and do, affect the WHOLE FAMILY! With that, I bid you all farewell, and pray for all of you! I got a kick out of the "darn tootin'."

Her tootin would have been really ticked if she knew that mama was getting manis and pedis with chump change he was paying.
