can my wages be garnished without me knowing it? Do i have to go to court before my wages can be garnished? sherrrifs debuty stopped by my place of employment asking about pay periods in reference to a garnishment. if i have not been contacted about a garnishment could this be about me.

Have you done something in the past (like not pay a bill) that may force someone to obtain a judgment against you? Were you served a summons to appear in court and ignore it?

i live in iowa.

I have been threatened by a creditor of garnishiing my wages for credit card debt. I am plannining on filing bankruptcy papers to the court at the end of the month. I have not seen a sumons of any sort in the mail. My employer had a debuties sherrif stop into today asking about pay our next pay period. I was hoping to not have any problems before i file bankruptcy. Could this been about me or am i being over paranoid.
