What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)?
Illinois
I live in a condo and the neighbors live upstairs make a loooooot of noise since the floor is extremely thin. I can even clearly hear their every step, yes, every. And every step sounds like stomping from downstairs.
I talked to the landlord today and he went to the upstairs apt and stepped on the floor, and commented: "They should never make hardwood floors any more. Sorry, but there is nothing we can do."
Moreover, the upstairs neighbors refuse to place any carpets or rugs since they said they preferred wood floor. Though I talked to them yesterday, they still made noises until 2 am.
Gee! Upstairs noise is really torturing me and I began to have a severe headache. What can I do other than subletting the apt and moving out? This is really annoying and is there any applicable condo code
to the tenants and landlords? I rechecked the contract and it only mentioned in the Rules and Regulations Part that "No noise, music or other sounds shall be permitted at any time in such manner as to disturb or annoy other occupants of the Building"
What can I do at this point of time? Thanks a million! What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)?
