My wife and I are getting divorced in April, 2001. When we
got married, she had a 9 month old daughter. The real father is not listed on the birth certif. The mother's dad is listed as the father. I had the daughters name changed to my name. Even though I am not the birth father of this child, do I have a chance of getting priviliges? By the way, I live in North Carolina.

**My name is not listed as the father. My wife's dad is
listed as the father.********* The child is now 5 yrs. old.

How old is the child now? If she and you agreed to put your name on the certificate, I believe, that you are considered the father. You have rights to her as much as the mother.

You should contact a couple of attorney's and discuss this with them. Bring a copy of the birth certificate with you along with your other documents.
