What is the name of your state? Texas

Actaully several issues with my workplace some pertaining to me and some to co-workers. This involves construction work. I have searched for past two weeks through state sites and federal sites and jsut not seeming to find the information in which I am seeking.

Firstly: The company has put out a letter stating our paydays determined by hours/days of week worked. For my current schedule 4 days/10 hours a day. We are to be paid on Thursdays. However, whenever we might have to work overtime or make up for lost time due to weather. Our checks are held till friday (not really the company doing it but rather the supervision at our particular site). We are given the reason that this is done cause some people will not come to work on the next day. Is this legal for them to do this?

Secondly: They are forcing alot of co-workers to work two or three pay grades above their current pay and offering no chance of a raise. Most of these people have been doing this for close to a year, some over a year. When people try bringing this issue up with supervision. They are told to go back to work as is or they can go back to the main office and ask for a new assignment, knowing there are no other places to be assigned to. Is this legal for them to do this?

There are other issues (labor related) that are causing alot of us stress and we feel we have no recourse. No one wants to do anything as alot are felons and if they lose their jobs and can't pay parole and such they will return to prison. I'm just an uneducated man thats getting really tired of the supervision that has taken over almost 2 years ago. They are losing us work with the threat of job loss at everyturn due to their ineptitude to do their jobs correctly and breaching contracts.

Thank You greatly for your Time,

Yes, unless you have a union contract.

Thank You for your reply.

Never could understand what the point was of Texas' payday law. Now I see. It just makes them tell you what days you are to be paid, yet does not enforce it by making them pay you on the days they tell you they will pay you.
