we the grand parents live in North Carolina but the grand child lives in upstate new york. The father of the child is in jail and the mother lost all rights to be a parent to the child. the child is six years old and has beeen from foster home to foster home and from one member of the family to another. even though the family knew where we were nobody called us to see if we would take the child until just recently when the department of children servises got a hold of her. the father of the child asked us if we would and we said yes. but my question is, since we are in north carolina and the child is in new york, what are our chances in court in may would we have to getting the child? the rest of the family dont seem to care or dont have time to bother with her but we do and want too. any help would be of some help to us. we dont want to make the trip if we dont have a chance like the department of children services seems to think we dont have.
