What is the name of your state?CALIFORNIA.I am not a beneficiary of my grandparents trust, but my mother is and i think she's getting screwed from the trustee, her brother.the other siblings so far have received more in thier payouts then mom.mom's the oldest, she lived and cared for grams and gramps for 17 years.she had no life and no help from the rest.her siblings think she lived there rent free but she didn't .she paid for food ,did yard work, house keeping, doc's app.etc.mom doesn't like confrontations so it's easy to walk all over her.i see her hurting.my husband and i moved her in with us cuz it wasn't fair to be forced out of her home of 17 years into a dinkie apt.
ok my question is can i request a copy of the trust for her even if i'm not a benificiary?

The attorneys on the site will answer your specific question.

If your mother is getting so that she may not be able to handle her own affairs in the future, you need to encourage her to get her affairs in order which would include - as appropriate - a living trust, will , health care POA and durable POA. If you had her POA, you could assist her and act on her behalf.

I know for a while that my mother was not incompetent and could handle normal daily tasks so that she did not require a guardian but was incapable of handling complex financial and legal tasks. Since I had her durable POA for everything, I could take care of all of these things such as handle your current problem.

I like the site listed below as a easy to use and understand overview.

You can't request a copy but your mother can, by sending a certified letter to the trustee requesting such, and she has a better chance of getting the copy if she has an attorney who can make the request on her behalf, since the trustee would be then less likely to ignore a request that came only from your mother.

Just because she is receiving less is NOT proof that she is being screwed. If that is the desire of the person who drafted the trust, then she will have to accept it. However, it may be that someone unduly influenced the trustee and she needs to be discussing this with an attorney if she thinks she may want to contest it.
