What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? GEorgia....I had a grandaughter that was in foste care for 14 months in another state. I finally got to visit with her on several occasions over the last few months. She has a dad that never has wanted her and has very little to do with her.
Well apparently he wanted her enough to get custody of her.
Any time she visited with his family she always stayed with his mother. Now, the state where she was has given her to him. WHY would they do that after she stayed in foster care for so long?
Because he was found to be a fit parent and he completed what they asked him to do.
Now he claims to want her.where was he months ago.
Don't know.
What right do I have as far as visitation for her and possible custody?
Why didn't you ask for placement when the child was in foster care? If you did ask for placement why weren't you granted placement? You are not going to get custody from a fit parent.
My daughter in not in the picture for she has her rights terminated.
If her rights were terminated because she was unfit then she is NO LONGER this child's mother. Which means you are no longer this child's grandmother.
