What is the name of your state? South Carolina

We are in the process of completing the Medicaid form and have a question about how to handle her car. I know that is a non-countable asset, but I am still not sure how we should enter it on the form. Should we say it was gifted or sold? The car was worth about $4,000 and we took it and sold it for her and she let us keep the proceeds for helping her so much. So, technically a gift. But if we need to pay her back for the money in order for her to be compliant we will do that as well. We are very confused and we want to do what we would be everyone's best interest.
Thank you,
Allison

You should not have sold the car. Strange as it may seem. She is entitled to own a car.
now she has proceeds from the sale of the car.
The best way to use the car thing MO. (my opinion). Is after you have sheltered her assets. You still need to have enough money left over to keep her in a nice ALF till a good Medicaid place becomes vacant. Good homes that take Medicaid have at least a 6 month waiting list here in Houston. AKA ground zero. When the place comes up. She buys a car, now she qualifies.
You need to have a dpoa before you start handling her affairs for her. $100.00
& it's the best money you will spend through all of this
It's too late. You also need to look up conversion, which is what you are telling posters to do and is fraud -- a crime.
