What is the name of your state? NJ
this is about a guy at my work, he and his wife have custody of their 5 year old granddaughter, since she was a few months old, mom signed over cusotdy (sole) when she got arrested (for drugs) so that her daughter wouldnt go to the state. Mom was very young (17 or 18) at the time. Now she has just taken them to court in Nov for visitation, which she got on the weekends, now she is asking for sole custody back. they go to court on thursday and neither have attorneys.
i know that no one has a crystal ball, but I also know courts dont like to change custody unless there is a change in circumstance, which their isnt here besides that mom realized she wasnt to be a mom to her daughter now and is done partying. But I also realize that probably only stands in cases between moms and dads, not grandparents.
Do courts usually award custody back to moms in this case and would they at least allow visitation for the grandparents still?
