What is the name of your state? Florida

I would like to know what all is involved for obtaining guardianship of an elderly parent in Florida. The case worker on the case for Elderly Affairs has suggested I consider doing this for my parent, aged 88. I live in a nearby state and am the only surviving family member. A request for me being named on a Medical Power of Attorney was refused as was several other suggestions to my parent
I have been turned down as a caregiver as well by the parent. Medicare is paying for home health care and housekeeping as well as some errands such as prescription pickups. The family home is free and clear but in need of repair.
Thanks for any help you can give me.

I'm sorry I don't know the answer to your question. I was shocked when you said the Medicare is paying for home health care, housekeeping and prescription pick-ups!!!! When my dad got sick, I was told that medicare would not pay for any home care. I was told that he could not get any home care unless he was on medicaid. :(

Explanation on Medicare in FL

The doctor ordered home health aides as well as PT for my parent after release from the hospital..the diagnosis was CVA. The local Elderly Affairs Dept in the county also has a program which will assist/pay for all medications after approval thru Medicaid.. Meals on Wheels is also delivering 7 meals a week. The janitorial/housekeeping is administered thru this program.
