i am a woman living in arkansas. my female partner and i have a 10 month old daughter together conceived by artificial insemination. the sperm donor is a friend who has legally relinquished all legal rights and we have legally relinquished him of all responsibility for the child with a contract prepared by an attorney. i know that second-parent adoption is not legal in arkansas. i need to know the best way to have legal rights to this child so that i can add her onto my insurance plan at work and a host of other benefits she could receive if she were legally my responsibility.

I am surprised you did not sort this out with the attorney at the same time..
