H-1b and I-94 stamping

Hoping this is simple When someone receives a new H-1b, do they need to get their I-94 stamped (if they weren't planning on traveling)? What about for extensions or transfers if they do have a stamped I-94 and the stamp will show an expired date and the extended H-1b has a later end date (and still in status)?
