What is the name of your state? Pa

I purchased an auto insurance policy a few days ago, and last night, A deer ran out in front of me, I swerved and the side of my car hit a tree. I went to the police and they made a report. Will the insurance company give me a hard time since the policy is only 3 days old? I was previously insured with the same insurance company, but I was an authorized driver on my girlfriends policy, and my car was listed on her policy because It was cheaper. We split up, and she never paid it, and the policy never renewed on 9/1. So there was technically 1 day of insurance lapse on the car, but on 9/2, my policy was effective. Like I said, I went to the police and they made a report. Will they give me a hard time?

I doubt it. Assuming you had the police come out to see the scene and make the report there, that's plenty of evidence that the accident happened when you say it did.

If your policy was effective (in force) at the time of the accident you should be covered and, hopefully, they don't give you a hard time. It seems you are saying policy was eff. 9-2 & acc. last night 9-3. Had you paid the initial
(1st) premium due? (It would seem as if you had.)

The question is, do you have the right type of coverage? You need to carry 'comprehensive' coverage for deer damage to be covered. If you are carrying a 'full coverage' policy (liability, comprehensive, & collision) you will not have any problems. However, if you are only carrying the state's bare minimum liability policy the deer damage is not a covered item.

He hit a tree, that's collision. Even if he'd hit the deer, that's collision too isn't it? If his car had been stopped and the deer hit IT, that would be comprehensive.

Nope. You are correct in that, since he hit the tree, it is a collision claim. However, hitting ANY animal (deer, dog, whatever) is considered a comprehensive whether the vehicle is moving or stopped.

And, as I stated in a previous post, if he was carrying the state's bare minimum liability 'no fault' coverage this would not be a covered claim.
