What is the name of your state? MN
Very involved story, but I'll try and keep it short..
My husband passed away last July, and his daughter has been filing complaints against me every time she comes back to MN from AZ.
She has accused me of murder, falsifying documents, detroying documents, committing fraud, even stealing the family dog......
Every time the Sheriff's dept. has to call me to "investigate"....even though the Deputy has told me that she has no basis for her claims. And he has implied that he is dragging the investigation because he knows she will sue in civil court when the investigation is over.
I have NOT killed anyone, falsified documents, committed fraud, however, I DID keep the dog.
She came back last week, and guess what ????
The new allegations are that I moved , and that I got rid of the family dog....
The "crime " apparently is that I moved while an investigation was underway, and got rid of the dog before she had a chance to recover it.
I have not moved, and I still have the dog.
She also told the Deputy that "she has people watching the house".
This aspect has me very nervous.....I went to my local police dept. yesterday and filed a report about that....I don't know who she has watching my house, but I am afraid for my safety.
I am meeting with my lawyer later this week to ask him about moving, because of people watching my house....I don't want to live in fear, but don't want to move if it would be illegal to move during an investigation...I would think that I could, as long as I notified the Sheriff's office.....Obviously I wouldn't want her to get my new address.
But, before I meet with my lawyer, I'd like a few opinions on other ways I may have to protect myself...would it be feasibile to sue her for harrassment by filing police reports ? A cease and desist letter from my lawyer ???
Any help would be appreciated. Thank You.
P.S The dog is an 8 yr old golden retriever that I have lived with for 6 years. The daughter lived with the dog for less than 1 year....and the dog was my husband's, not hers....even the deputy said it would be inhumane to expect an old dog to go to a new home....
