10 years, 15 if in a promotable status.

At 10 years, separation pay is $23,493.60
At 15 years, separation pay is $35,240.40

I highly doubt he will RCP out... Rare occurance if he does. A lot of Soldiers actually try to, but somehow end up promoted at the last minute, therefore ineligible. If he has ANY pending administrative action against him, they will expidite it, and he will then only qualify for 1/2 of the above amounts (general under honorable and up).
