My X-husband never visits our 2 1/2 year old. He has a new life with a woman who has a violent past criminal record and phycological problems. I live in New Jersey and want to know if I can and how long is it before I can file abandonment charges on him and have his parental rights taken away. He is an active alcoholic and drug abuser. His visitation is limited to supervised visits with his parents present at all times, yet he doesn't show up. He does pay child support only because it is through probation and he doesn't want to go to jail. He doesn't call, send cards or visit. What length of time do I have to wait .
