What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)?

Im in NC and Im in the process of applying for a HELOC. One of the forms I was sent by the bank is a closing attorney preference form. I can request my own closing attorney, or use one provided by the bank. Is there any reason I should not trust the closing attorney provided by the bank ?

Unless you have a lawyer you are familiar with, or one you want to be familiar with on an ongoing basis, the choice of closing attorney is largely immaterial. Closing is really a 'party neutral' item. If you want someone to be looking out for your interests exclusively, you need to engage counsel to do those things seperately than just handling closing (though they can handle the closing as well).

Thank You ~ I assumed the closing was pretty straight forward and of course, I will be reading and reviewing all closing documents and if I have any doubts, I will inquire before signing.
